Experiencing modern architecture on the ground and talking to the creators of ideas: This is possible for visitors at the annual Architecture Day. On Sunday, June 25, 2017, Koschany + Zimmer Architekten KZA will be presenting a special project in Bochum-Hofstede: the first series-built residential house in modular design commissioned by Vonovia SE, Germany’s largest residential enterprise. The architects of KZA invite you to learn more about the modular construction concept. Guided tours start at 2 pm and 3 pm; registrations are not required.
Extremely short time of construction
„Architecture creates quality of life“ – this is the motto of the Architecture Day 2017. KZA’s planners have implemented this principle with their idea of modular construction. In October 2015, Vonovia SE came to the office in Essen with the intention of creating affordable housing in a central location. Already 14 months later, in December 2016, the first tenants were able to move into their three-storey building in Bochum. Within the space of three months, 14 senior- and family-friendly apartments with sizes ranging from 44 to 88 square meters were built. The short construction period results from the use of prefabricated modules, which were brought to the construction site with the low loader.
On the basis of the modular system developed by KZA, individual buildings will be created in the future. The architects will explain to their visitors how the practical implementation can be done.
