At the beginning of the training year, KZA launched two young women into their professional future. They will be trained as draughtswoman and assistant for office management.
Nora Starzonek is actually from a completely different branch: For four years, the young woman born in Dortmund has worked as a confectioner – and then decided to train as a draftswoman. Everyday life in the bakery was fun, says the 24-year-old. „Yet it was also exhausting to start at half past six in the morning and then work so hard physically.“ Her penchant for perspective drawing finally led her to her new job.
Drawing on the computer
Cakes and ground plans – is there any connection at all? Yes, says Nora Starzonek: „Both need accuracy.“ At KZA, she learns to implement the designs of the architects in scale-oriented plans – on the computer. Work on paper has long been a thing of the past at KZA.
Ground plans have also fascinated Pinar Kesim from the outset – although she is not directly involved. At KZA, the 19-year-old is trained as assistant for office management. „I find the fact that I can work in an architectural office very exciting. Plans, buildings and projects – that sounds like a great adventure. “
After finishing school, the high school graduate from Essen allowed herself a one-year break – „to find out what I really want“. Two of her cousins then gave her the impetus to look for the training: „They work in that job and could tell me a lot about it. I especially like that it never gets boring.”
Quality assurance for builders
In addition to the two newcomers, three other trainees are employed at KZA: Marcel Roling and Chris Moog are also trained as construction draughtsmen, Julia Dobudko as assistant for office management. In this way, the company continues a tradition. „Training has always had priority for us, as it is part of quality assurance for us and our builders: we bring young people into our work and thus ensure that the high demands on our services and the quality of planning will also be fulfilled in the future,“ emphasizes KZA Managing Director Wolfgang Zimmer.
Information event for students in October
The topic of education is also the focus of an event named TalentTage Ruhr. KZA will participate in the event series on Thursday, October 12, from 3.30 p.m. and offer an afternoon full of information. Employees of the architectural office then give an insight into their daily work and their career. Graduates can learn a lot about the possibilities of studying and training in the construction industry. KZA’s trainees are also present this afternoon – just like former apprentices. They explain why their professions are fun, and how they have grown after their training.
