As a member of the coordination group within the BIM Cluster NRW, Wolfgang Zimmer has written the „Düsseldorf Declaration“. On 7 August the document has been signed.
Associations of architects and engineers as well as of the construction industry will undertake to apply the BIM method in the implementation of construction projects in the future. They thus support the path taken by the state government to introduce BIM as a standard for public building tasks.
Preparation for the future
„The opportunities of digitization are to be used to prepare the construction industry for the future and to compete with other European and world-wide service providers and companies,“ says the statement. „In addition, the further digitization of the entire real estate and infrastructure sector offers enormous potential for the future in the development of data-based digital applications.“ North Rhine-Westphalia should occupy a pioneering position here.
In order to achieve this goal, however, it would also require political support. Politics must thus accompany the way through filling „appropriate positions in the ministries“, create binding guidelines and also apply the BIM procedure in its own public projects.
