Hürth Comprehensive School has been awarded the school building award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Koschany + Zimmer architects KZA have prepared the execution planning for the new building. The building has been designed by the office h4a.

At the award ceremony in Bochum on Monday, a total of twelve outstanding new construction and renovation projects were awarded. A specialist jury had selected them from a total of 50 submissions.

With a view to Hürth Comprehensive School, the experts praised the openness of the three buildings, which at the same time offer solid areas for every year. The clear structure ensures clarity and facilitates orientation. In addition, the new building blends harmoniously into „the network of everyday urban areas of movement“.

The school started operations in summer 2017 after a two-year construction period. With its implementation planning, the KZA team ensured that the high quality of the design was also implemented in the built practice.

The school construction award NRW was awarded for the third time. The organizers are the Federal Ministry for School and Education in cooperation with the Chamber of Architects North Rhine-Westphalia (AKNW).
