The new Kranikom building is constantly growing – and causes a stir in Duisburg’s inner harbor. At the topping-out ceremony on Thursday, the client and project participants celebrated the intermediate results.

More than seven months after laying the foundation stone, Alexander Kranki talked about the challenges and new experiences in his role as a client. In the meantime, more and more people had become aware of the growing corporate headquarters, the managing director of the IT service provider Krankikom emphasized. „It will be a very beautiful building, and I am infinitely grateful to all those who contributed something to it.“

For the KZA planning team, project manager Ulrike Wallbott had prepared a collection of facts with connection to the human scale – because this was fundamental in planning tasks, she said.

2,100 cubic meters of concrete

The architect presented unusual figures to the guests, all of them related to the masses of the new building. Two examples: Until now, 2,100 cubic meters of concrete have been used – equivalent to more than eight million cups of coffee. And if you wanted to cover the facade of the digital office with paper, you would need more than 285,000 small sticky notes.

„We hope that you, the Krankikom team, will enjoy tons of coffee in your new office building and fill the house with life and color,“ Wallbott said.

The peculiarities of the new building and its history were finally taken into account by site foreman Carsten Gonska. He gave the starting signal, so that the topping-out wreath made of network cables could slowly float away to the sky.
