The audience did not want to let her go. Because Mariama created a very special atmosphere in the house of Axel Koschany in Essen. The singer-songwriter played an exclusive concert for about 80 guests there on Friday evening.
The event was part of the Salon Festival – a series that allows encounters with art and culture away from large event halls. Axel Koschany and Wolfgang Zimmer, managing partners of the KZA office, have been promoting the initiative for many years – and are hosting the event. „It’s a great experience. Everyone should think about how he can realize such an event, „said Axel Koschany.
This statement was impressively underpinned. For Mariama, who was on stage with her guitarist Leif Bräutigam, immediately captivated the audience. Charmingly, she moderated the evening, talking about love, disappointment and the chance for change in seemingly hopeless crises.
Touching songs
The music changed between reggae, soul and chanson, always determined by Mariama’s strong, touching vocals. „The influences are so diverse that I do not even bother to enumerate them,“ said the singer-songwriter, who has multiple roots in her biography: born in Sierra Leone, she grew up in Bergisch Gladbach and, nowadays, is at home between Cologne and Paris.
Two encores
Only after two encores did the musicians leave the stage. And for them, too, the performance was a formative experience, they explained. „We felt very comfortable and really enjoyed playing a concert in this small circle,“ Mariama said. This statement indirectly acknowledged the work of the Salonfestival team, which was represented by Margitta Eichelbaum and Christine Preuss.
Eichelbaum promoted the special form of dialogue about art and culture. „We firmly believe that this exchange is important – especially in times of omnipresent digitization. “
